hello everyone, this is my first post to this forum, glad to meet everyone.

I would appreciate any information / advise/ or general thoughts on my GT. I'm attempting to get it up & running for my 50th bday this month, I'm not a great wrench so it will be a challenge. Look forward to being a part of this group

Here's a little background
1974 1/2 BGT
29363 miles
options: overdrive & rear defrost
It the butterscotch color, don't recall the exact
purchased new from my father from Davis Buick, Dayton Ohio, has never left the family
98% original
interior in completely original, had the original seat belt info on the drivers visor in tack until a few weeks ago. it ripped so i had to remove it.
back seat is in same condition, removed for battery access

couldn't start with a dirty car, here are a few pics

I don't want to be a doom merchant, but you appear to have corrosion in the lower rear fender. The sill, which is the structural part of the car, runs from the front wheel right back to the rear wheel, so large parts of it are hidden behind the fenders. Rust on the outer panel usually means the sill behind is toast. That could be an MOT failure here in the UK.

Hi Erich, welcome to the forum, car looks great and should be able to give you lots of enjoyment.

I was about to say the same as Mike in the post above. I think you will have to do some work on the sills and rear wing.at some point soon. The BGT is exceptionally strong and the corrosion we spotted is entirely expected - they often corrode there. So, catch it now and you will have less work to do.

You will find the BGT easy and straightforward to work on, lots of good advice published, and practically everything is available, even brand new body shells (you are nowhere needing one of them though!).
