Re: Newbie checking in

Hi Paul Welcome to the forum! I am also something of a ‘newbie’ having only bought our 1967 MGB Mk1 this past summer. I am also retired and the ‘B’is something of a fun car taking me back to my youth in Hall Green/Solihull area in the 1960’s. Our ’B’ is a sunny dry day only car and is currently in w...

Re: New Member Question On Tyres

Thanks for posting Pete. Along with several electrical wiring renewals and an electronic ignition installed that has massively improved starting - first time every time even after 2/3 weeks being idle, we also at the same time last month had all the fuel lines renewed but not the SU carburettors. I ...

Re: Tonneau & Hood Fixing Points

Thanks yet again for your advice Peter - much appreciated!
One other question, what PSI / Bar do you put into your tyres for regular running ? My tyre size is 175R/14C.
Moorland Classic Cars recommend 60psi for over-wintering in my garage.

Thanks again Peter

Re: New Member Question On Tyres

Mid-November and will be soon putting our ‘B’ to bed in our garage for the winter. It’s been suggested by the Classic Cars specialist I use that I take the following precautions: 1) Fill the fuel tank to maximum to prevent any condensation build 2) To prevent causing tyre flat-spots and/or mis-shapi...

Re: satnav

The USB powering point would be useful. For satnav, I use ‘WAZE’ which is an excellent App I downloaded onto my iPhone.
It is a real-time system so helps you avoid jams by rerouting you.

Moorlands Classic Cars

Hi Guys & Gals It may have been covered before but worthwhile mentioning again. If you live in the Midlands area, a brilliant place to go if you need a professional Classic Car garage, try Moorlands Classic Cars, Ipstones, near Leek, Staffordshire Moorlands. Its run by Martin & Tony Hine and...

Tonneau & Hood Fixing Points

Hi All We are looking to buy a half tonneau/hood cover for our MGB Mk1 1967. Not decided as yet on vinyl or mohair. Being a 'newbie' having only acquired the car this summer, my question is, Are all the fixing points to the rear of the hood well always in an identical standard position when the car ...

Re: "classic" oil - is it?

Duckhams Q20-50 and Castrol 20-50 is recommended although the former costs just short of £35.00 for a 4.5 ltr/1 gallon sized can (£7.70 per litre) delivered. I found a near identical 5 ltr can at Halfords for £21.00 (£4.20 per litre) specifically for Classic 1960’s, 70’s, 80’s cars. The only differe...

Re: Convertible Hood replacement

Many thanks for your advice Peter - much appreciated.

We had decided that when we do replace with either vinyl or mohair, Don Hoods in Birmingham would be the place to take it to. The other place we hear good reports for general work is Prestige MG in Rugeley which, again, is relatively close.
