Re: Checking overdrive
Thanks David. My unit is a 1972 and is the LH model. The gearbox is noisy which is why I have rebuilt a spare box so perhaps at some time the OD unit has suffered a bit making it abrupt. When I got the car (from as so called well respected dealer) it had supposedly just been been serviced. Checked i...

Checking overdrive
Does anyone know if it is possible to check if an overdrive unit is working correctly with it off the car and off the gearbox. I have just rebuilt a gearbox which came with an OD unit and want to get it all bolted together with the engine. My existing OD in the car is OK (does suffer from the abrupt...

Thrust washers
Does anyone know here to get some layshaft thrust washers please. Just rebuilt one gearbox and ended up filing some down to get the clearance right. Now doing another one and I need new ones for this.

Power steering
I have just fitted power steering to my GT and it has made it so much easier to manouvre at low speeds. It never bothered me when I was driving cars in the 60s but age and being used to more modern cars has caught up with me. The system I used is Easysteer in Bolton. Took about a day to fit and has ...

Re: Cibie Oscar spot lights
I may be able to help out here John.
I had some on a rally Mini years ago and I'm sure I still have them somewhere buried in the basement. I'll see if I can locate them and ley you know. Not sure what condition they are in as I remember I did manage to dent one of them.

Re: Starting on a slope
Well I'm giving up on this trying to park them on the slope. After a lot of turning over the Midget finally fired up. Very rough but managed to get it onto the flat at the rear of the house and low oil pressure. Float levels perfect. Very strong petrol smell but no leaks. Checked the oil level only ...

Re: Starting on a slope
Thanks Jim. I fitted the cutoff valve to the Midget as it was a bit easier and it has made no difference at all. Im pretty sure the float levels are set up OK on both the B and the Midget but I'll double check. One other thing I'm a bit concerned about is the oil level. It's a steep slope and althou...
