Thrust washers

Post by Brian Wyld »

Does anyone know here to get some layshaft thrust washers please. Just rebuilt one gearbox and ended up filing some down to get the clearance right. Now doing another one and I need new ones for this.
Trie all the usual places without any luck.

Hi Brian
If the usual suppliers haven't got them in stock, you could try:
Gerry Brown at Merton Motorsport
Merton Farmhouse Dallinghoo
Woodbridge
IP13 0LE
Suffolk
Telephone: 01473 737256
Email: gerry@mertonmotorsport.co.uk
Gerry often gives talks about gearbox overhauls at MG rebuild seminars, so might be able to supply the ones you need or advise where to get them from.

Alternatively try:
Heathrow Transmissions
UNIT 20C, REAR OF 20 HANWORTH ROAD
HOUNSLOW, GREATER LONDON.
TW3 1UA
UK
TEL: +44 0208 577 1505
heathrowtransmissions@gmail.com
http://www.heathrowtransmissions.co.uk/
They maybe willing to supply you with some thrust washers, as they specialise in classic car gearboxes.
