Re: 1970 MGB Choke cable.

Thanks chaps. Bit of a mystery. XYY has the correct HS carbs for her year and the linkage is as Peter has kindly attached from the Moss catalogue. There are no acute bends other than the lazy 90 degree one where the cable runs from the bulkhead up the the carbs. It works well enough but seem "a...

Re: 1970 MGB Choke cable.

Hi Pete, The T handle one was obviously wrong and in a bad way but it still worked better than the "star" one which I believed to be correct for my GT which was made about 0ctober 1969. As you say, I couldn't find a change date from the C marked variety either ! The star one is really of v...

1970 MGB Choke cable.

Sorry to be pain with my inane questions but latest thing to aggravate me is my choke cable ! The car came with the incorrect (and frayed) "T" handle choke cable which I replaced with the proper 1970 style large round type with the fan symbol on. This came from a respected MG supplier and ...

Re: Headlamp Bowls

Thanks Peter, good point. Hadn't thought of that. I just want to do something quickly as the muppet that spent thousands doing a first class body restoration then went and put the old rusty headlamp bowls back in. I despair !

Re: Headlamp Bowls

Thanks Ian.
I think I will follow your route given the rust issues with the metal ones. The trims don't sit that well on those either, so nothing to lose really !
Cheers,
Paul.

Headlamp Bowls

Any advice please on best replacement for rusty headlamp bowls....I like the sound of the plastic ones, but knowing how difficult it is to fit the chrome bezels back securely even on the original metal ones, I do wonder if this is wise .....
Many thanks
Paul.

Re: Tappet chest side covers.

Thanks for your advice chaps.
I shall keep to standard gaskets then.
Have just stripped it down...cause of oil leak was that the cover was actually loose ! From the grime covering this area, I doubt if it has ever been touched, so at least the cover should not be distorted ! Fingers crossed.

Tappet chest side covers.

Has anybody had experience of the best gaskets to use to cure the usual oil leaks from these covers?
I see that there are some silicone ones now on the market....any good do you reckon ?

Re: Brake servo

Sure it is not air in the system somewhere ? I am having this issue at the moment, following the move of my servo from where somebody put it on the o/s inner wing to the normal remote servo position on the n/s scuttle ledge. It was perfect before the change, so in my case, it can only be air. A numb...
