WELCOME TO THE MGB REGISTER NEWSLETTER
PUBLISHED IN THE APRIL 2020 SAFETY FAST
Recently I received a couple of emails I thought I’d share with you below. Before I do that, though, don’t forget we’ve got our Spring Run on April 5, details from www.mgb-register.org
The Versatile BGT
I thought I’d follow up on Rodger’s comments of the practical BGT by sending a few pics of my 1975 GT fitted with a fast road motor and lowered suspension which I owned between 1989-2004.
The GT was given a two-year hard labour sentence (which she certainly did not deserve) when we moved to France in 2002. The farmhouse and barns needed a great deal of restoration and the half acre ‘garden’ required completely landscaping. We received much appreciation and thumbs-up by passing motorists when returning from the garden nursery, with much use being
made of the Webasto roof. The GT never cribbed when required to haul huge loads of building material, aggregate, sand, timber, etc. but I did
feel rather guilty. She always brushed up well for the local car club events and attracted much interest.

Journey to MGLive!
I have owned my current MGB for over 45 years, and now reside in Gozo, Malta, where we have a guest house. I shall be driving my MGB, accompanied by my co-driver wife Ann, from our house in Gozo to MG Live! at Silverstone in June 2020 to raise money for the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation. I underwent successful cancer treatment in Malta last year and want to say thanks to those who helped me get through the ordeal by raising funds for this important charity in Malta.
The fund actively helps and assists the Anthony Mamo Oncology Centre in Malta in easing the financial burden of those undergoing treatment, and in supplying medication which the government cannot, for whatever reason.
Our journey will be as follows:
Drive 32km from Victoria, Gozo to Valetta, Malta and board Grimaldi Line ferry on June 1, arriving in Salerno, Italy on June 2.
Drive 435km from Salerno, Italy to Ancona, Italy and board Jadrolinija Ferry on June 5 arriving Split, Croatia on June 6.
Drive 1,823km from Split, Croatia via, Slovenia, Austria and France to Calais and board P&O ferry bound for Dover on June 11.
Drive 217km from Dover via London (Stop off at daughter’s house) to Milton Keynes arriving on June 12 at Travelodge Hotel, Milton Keynes.
Drive 10km from Milton Keynes to Silverstone on June 13 for the weekend MGLive! event.
You’ll be able to track our journey on the computer, more details in the next issue.
