Way back in about 2007 when I was building my V8 GT conversion, I fitted a pair of plastic front wing liners like these https://mgbhive.co.uk/product/gac7038-p ... g-liners/
Today after about 17 years I took one off to have a look. The car has been used since 2009 in all weathers, has mostly lived outdoors, and has driven around 36,000 miles. As the photos show there is no sign of any deterioration round the headlight, or on the "trumpet" section, or anywhere! They will go right back in.

Re: Plastic front wing liner shields
I think the heat from that exhaust must also have been very beneficial!
