GT GRP Front wings

Has anybody fitted these? How do they fit?
I'm getting fed up of patching my perforated front wings. I'm afraid that the price of new steel wings rules them out.
My car is an every day user.

Hi Dave, I can't comment specifically on BGT wings, but I have experience of fitting GRP wings to a 1954TR2.
The thing to remember is that if the wing shape is at all distorted there is little you can do about it. If it's just a question of hole alignment then that is easy to deal with on a GRP panel.
So, buy the best you can find and the shape should be OK.

One of the reasons for misshapen panels is if they are taken out of the mould too early and left to harden they very easily sag or distort a little and become unusable.

Hi Ian, thanks for your reply. Point taken about the possible distortion.
Have you any recommendation re manufacturers?

Can't recommend anyone in particular apart from trying the usual MG suppliers of parts.
Honey Bourne mouldings used to be good - a specialist in GRP panels for classics, but I am not sure if they are still in business.

Just checked Honebourne Mouldings, the BGT front wings are available but £175 each!

Thanks Ian.
Honeybourne wings save £1000 over the cost of the Heritage steel wings.
I'll have to do some serious thinking about this. My car although it runs great, will never be a concourse example without spending loads of cash, and it is after all an every day car!

On my TR2 I was a able to get an excellent finish easily, and indistinguishable from steel wings.
Depends on your experience of using GRP I guess, but I was always a big fan.
I use it now on my son's race bikes, easy to fix and make presentable.

I bought a pair of grip front wings off t’ebay. Never been used . Unfortunately they turned out to be gt wings and I have a tourer doh !🙄
They seem well made and having offered one up (yes I had removed the near side wing before I realised I had made a bloomer) a good fit , apart from the bit round the windscreen which is a bit (!) wrong for the tourer.

Sounds like Robert should sell the pair to Dave if he still has them

Hi Robert. I'm interested in your GT front wings. Can you pm me with the details?
Cheers.
