Do you think that your mechanical fan helps in any way?
New water pump now arrived.
I will try it without fan assistance and see how it goes.

Never felt the need for additional cooling on my ‘66 B, the fan blades work as they should and is quite efficient. Just make sure your waterways, radiator etc are not clogged.
I would just fit a new fan blade (one that hasn’t been modified)

Leyland actually issued a service bulletin in 1973 (maybe restricted to N. America?), mandating use of plastic fans in place of metal. I would guess this was due to safety concerns following breakages.

I have an original six bladed fan on my 1962 B.
I really should say 'had' as I replaced it with a nos Leyland plastic one.
I've seen so many pictures of the metal blades letting go I didn't want to take that risk...
