Sump drain washer
Hello everyone. I am starting to accumulate the parts for the annual service on my B. I like to have them all ready in advance to minimise the vehicle off road time.
My local motor factor has sump plug washers by size. Can anyone tell me the internal diameter of the sump plug washer on a 5 bearing B?
Thanks,
David

I have to confess I never change the sump plug washer, been on the BGT since at least 1978 (as far as I can remember - it's a long time ago).

Ian,
I'm amazed you can get away without any oil drips there without changing the copper washer!
I tend to add one or two washers to any other order i make for parts to save postage costs or the agro when i haven't got one to hand when required!
Cheers

Re: Sump drain washer
I do have a few drips of oil from various locations, so perhaps that may mask any slight seepage from the sump washer, but I have never noticed anything from there.
My B GT and my Midget have always been a little incontinent, so I just regard it as their normal condition. Would be interesting to know how many Bs are completely free of oil leaks?

Re: Sump drain washer
The MGBs & Miidgers that don't drip oil probably haven't got any oil. In them!

Re: Sump drain washer
I recommend using a traditional normal copper washer rather than the crush type - I bought a new sump plug with one of these crush washers only for it to start leaking a short time after! - the size is 12mm as the other posters say.

Re: Sump drain washer
In the end I couldn't get one locally. I wanted to use the car so I couldn't wait for one to come in the post. Replaced the sump plug with the old washer and some thread sealant. Not leaking yet!
