Reg number plate

Post by Remyd »

I am looking at buying a new Reg number plate as the front one is cracked.

Any recommendations as where to buy them from?

There are a number of online suppliers of all types of UK reg plates. I have used these people before and was pleased with the plates they made.

EDIT: I have just seen your photo. That is not an original style of plate for a J reg car. It would have had pressed letters on an aluminium plate, silver on black. Like these http://www.chestnut-registrations.co.uk ... lates.aspx

The problem with on line suppliers is that you have to send the V5C, something I'd never do.
When I wanted black and silver plates for my 1975 Land Rover I went to a nearby motor factor with the V5C, they checked that the plates were legal for the vehicle and I collected them a couple of days later. I still had the V5C.

I went for pressed silver on black plates from an EBay seller who had lots of feedback, I just attached a photo of the V5.

I have to confess Ive always liked the look of silver on black plates and was pleased when the law changed to allow them on anything up to 1980.
