Hello

Post by Statler »

Hello
New to the forum with a 1978 MGB GT.
The car was brought back to working order in 2019 and I've been overhauling the engine / engine bay since March 2020.
Nearly ready to go back on the road, just the carbs to fit, cooling system to re-install and an initial run-in can proceed.

Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve, and welcome. That looks like Pageant Blue? I had a 1978 Morris Marina Estate in that colour (no laughter please!). Probably still have a tin of cellulose paint in the garage. Later on it did have an MGB 1.8 engine and went quite well!

Don't feel so bad Ian, my Dad had a 1980 Morris Ital in beige that I learned to drive in. I always like the look of the Marina TC better.
We're BL family, Mini, Ital, Rover, Maestro, Metro etc.
Yes, it's Pageant blue, at least a shade of it. It's been near impossible to match this 22 year old paint with anything current.

Thanks Dave, it certianly seems more intimate than another large US forum that I've been on. looking forward to contributing.

Thanks Steven, it was painted 22 years ago and has been dry stored since but, despite the photos, the paint is not in great condition. Rust is creeping and bubbles are everywhere.

I've been trying to get across the Irish Sea to the Donington Historic Festival in the B for the last couple of years, but family and COVID have prevented it. Hopefully the work I've just done on the engine will help when I do manage it.

Thanks for the welcomes!
