I have found a small one man firm in North West Essex that will strip and powder coat Rostyle wheels. The price includes removing and replacing the tyre and balancing the wheel as part of the deal.
His main business is alloy wheels refrubishment and power coating.

Question
Is the orginal finish gloss, semi matt or matt - very difficult to tell from pictures?

I would say the silver was a dull gloss and the black inserts were matt if I remember correctly.

Although my Rostyle wheels have been refurbished now, I do remember them in original condition when I bought the BGT in 1978. I would agree with Adrian on the paint finish - as best as I can recall!!

With paint so thin and no primer that just about lasted until the one year warranty expired!

My 1974 GT came with silver/black Rostyles. The silver was getting a bit untidy and patchy but looked for the most part to be semi -gloss. The BLACK part was definitely SATIN finish - not matt.

I did try re-painting them myself but the finished job looked worse than when I started so I bought a set of alloys (Minator) instead and, apart from the balance weights/trackrod end interference problem referred to elsewhere and which is close to being resolved, I have been very satisfied.

I see you have found a powder coating source, George, but I would advise caution with this stuff. It can get damaged and let the water in underneath to start a load of rust you can't see. My personal advice from motorcycle experience would be to stick with good quality paint professionally applied.
