Post by Bman new zealand »

Hi,
would any one with a factory mgb hardtop be able to tell me the measurement from the top of the battery box to the under side of the hardtop.

Im building a rollbar but have no hardtop yet.but aim to fit one in the future.
Any help would be very much appreciated

Kind regards
Bevan

Just my humble opinion, but I would wait until I had the hardtop!

My rollbar has a bend in the middle of the roof.it fits under the softtop.

Hi Bevan,. I can't give you an answer I'm afraid - I have a BGT - but someone on this forum should be able to help I think.
A couple of points: I think Dave is right - get your hardtop first as I suspect there may be some differences between different types? Secondly, it may be difficult to get a genuine "works" hardtop, so even if you get the measurement you are looking for, you may not get the relevant hardtop?

Best of luck with the build!

My works hardtop is not on the car at the moment but I put a bar across where the door shuts on the door jam pillar. I measured 400mm to the top of the inner roof about 20mm more in the centre - this clearance continues about 150mm towards the rear.
Hope this helps.
Just a thought that if you made it fit under a soft top surely it would then fit under a hard top?
