I've recently tried sending a PM to another member and tried twice with much the same information. At the end of the message I have clicked on submit, but I find both messages are in the 'Outbox' still rather than being in the 'Sent mail' box. Why?

not sure if its the case here but on another forum I use messages stay in the 'outbox' until the recipient opens them.

Hi Peter,
Just found this on a board of the same type of forum.

"Messages in the outbox are pms that have been posted but not yet opened, once opened they go to sent messages.
I should add, the reason it works this way is that while the pm hasn’t been opened you can go back and edit or delete it."

I hope this explains.

However I have also sent a pm to see whar happens.

Hi Paul
The exchange of PMs between shows them to works just as described! Sit in the 'Outbox' until the recipient opens it then it goes into the 'Sent messages' box. I was assuming it would work like emails!

Hi Pete,
Works a bit like whatsapp I guess. You can see if it has been read ;0)

It will not work if the other person has PM's turned off.
