New member car search

Post by Coopersean »

Hi, new member here - thanks for letting me join.

I am on the look out for an early MGB roadster, and wondered if anyone had any details on my dads old car? Would be great if I could get one he used to own!

His car was a 1962 roadster, registration 727BTH, and was chassis 3551 I believe? He recalls it was originally yellow, but was iris blue when he owned it. Does anyone know any details of the car please, or what yellow would have been available in 1962?

Thanks in advance. Sean

727BTH in yellow is listed on the DVLA system but not taxed or SORN nor any indication when the last tax or SORN ran out.
It is not listed as ever having an MOT in the last 10 years either on the MOT site.

Maybe it exists in a lockup or a proverbial barn but in all probability it no longer exists except " on paper" or computer file.

According to Clausager "The Original MGB" the only yellow colour available in 1962 was "Pale Primrose Yellow"

Thanks for the info George, much appreciated.

Sounds like it is no longer with us. Shame, but was a long shot.

Actually this isn't strictly true.

The only colours available at launch were, Old English White, Tartan Red, Iris Blue, British Racing Green, Black and Chelsea Grey.

Chelsea Grey was so unpopular they stopped it after 18 months as nobody bought them!

Except the first owner of my car obviously...
