MGB MK1 and 11 roadster rear view mirrow

Post by George Wilder »

Has anyone ever found a source of rear view mirrors for these cars ie rod mounted - which has the "dip" facility?

Fed up being blinded at night.

My only solution has been to turn the mirror so that the light shines back at the following car - not the best answer.

My American 1980 MGB has a "dimmable" rear view mirror. Can you retrofit one to yours?

Afraid not.

The early rear view mirrors on roadsters are fitted to the central rod of the windscreen. The later ones are fitted to the screen surround.
I am looking for a dipping mirror to fit as original

Hello George.

I have a Lucas dipping mirror from, I believe, a 1950's Jaguar, in my 1962 'B.

An easy conversion using the original stem from your standard gold mirror, which needs to be removed.

They do turn up occasionally.

There's a ropey one on eBay now, ripe for restoration, here:
