Do many owners use the fresh air flap and would you miss it if it wasnt there ?
Whilst doing a trial fitting of my new EPAS column I realised the fresh air flap could hit the EPAS motor when in it's fully open position. I rotated the column assembly to provide clearance which inevitably caused a new clearance issue with the back of the centre console, the corner of which had to then be slightly trimmed back and then the brackets altered and the stalks realigned etc.
After I had taken some time to work around this I started wondering how necessary the fresh air flap actually is. Is it considered largely superfluous given that it's lever is not very safe or easy to operate whilst driving and that the heater can also provide cold air to the cabin as can opening the quarter lights, the windows (and the top for roadsters)

Re: Fresh air flap
Even though I have a roadster , I do use the air flap on very warm days to minimise heat in the cabin, particularly if I have been in a queue of traffic!

I use the flap all the time in the Summer, as does Mrs F. On a hot day with the flap open and the rear quarter lights open, it is cool without a draft or excessive noise.
