The £ 70 universal type kit arrived and is on it's way back as it doesnt have an adapter for the spindle on late MGBs. Pity as its a craftily designed bit of kit that would be good for other classics.

Someone has just suggested that there is a way of removing the large hexagonal spindle which would reveal the smaller square peg drive spindle the same as on earlier B's. If that's the case it would open up the possibility again of using an after market electric window kit. Has anyone heard of this and if it would just the a case of carefully cutting into the hexagonal section and drifting the remainder off a central shaft that should remain or of it would need the whole thing remaking with an alternative spindle ?
