Re: Prospective Ownership - Sense Check Questions

I'm in north west Hampshire. I will be removing the cylinder head on my MGB in the next couple of months or so if you're interested.

Re: Broken fan blade.

Mine is overheating badly but it's likely to be a cracked cylinder head which will be removed soon otherwise I've not experienced any overheating. I suppose the answer would be to fit a second electric fan as per the V8.

Re: Squealing

It sounds like a slipping fan belt. Check the tension and condition of the belt and if ok sprinkle talcum powder on the pulley side of the belt.

Re: electronic ignition

I fitted a 123 to my Series 3 Land Rover and it was absolutely useless. I set it per the instructions and the vehicle was gutless and then a misfire developed. I returned it and got my money back . As a stopgap I reverted to Charles Kettering's antiquated system of point and condenser and power was ...

Re: Gearbox oil leak - possible vent blockage?

Took that to be a stud.
It might be possible from underneath but there's very little room. Can you get your hand to the breather and see if it's oily?

Re: Gearbox oil leak - possible vent blockage?

I've had a look at the parts list and no vent is shown. Possibilities are the speedometer drive, overdrive isolator switch, reverse light switch or the front oil seal. With that amount of leakage can you see any likely place it's coming from?
