Re: My poor frosted V8 GT
Just the same here at Isle of Whithorn. Difference is my car lives outside all the time andI I use my car every day, so all I can complain about is the pathetic heater and the slightly lower cranking speed. Otherwise the car copes perfectly with the conditions.

Re: Radiator efficiency
I've always thought that my car's cooling was marginal. For example, in Dumfries town traffic which is not exceptionally busy, the gauge quickly zooms up to over half way, and the fan cuts in to bring it back down again fairly quickly. By comparison, when I had a modern, a Vauxhall Astra diesel, the...

Re: Top end ticking
Nice to know that it is normal for the valve gear to be ticky! Like Ian, I seem to have one that is noisier than the others, despite clearance rechecks. Probably due to the business end of a rocker being indented? I once tried Ian's way of checking clearances on a running engine many years ago. What...

Top end ticking
Quiet here at the moment!
As far as I know, my engine is a standard 1978 one.
The valve gear has always been a bit ticky, well a lot tickier than my Cortina and MM.
The car is in daily use, and runs well. I've been tempted reduce the clearance, but wisely, I think, refrained.
How do others find?

Re: Any paint guru’s out there
I'd be interested to know if anybody has found a supplier of MGB paint colour spray cans. My 1978 Gt is the dreaded Vermillion and the car is now looking like a patchwork quilt after applications of different suppliers Vermillion touch up paint. The car was refinished about 5 or 6 years ago by a pre...

Re: No brakes
Strange, but true, my Standard 10 has the best brakes of my 4 cars. No servo. From 30/35 mph it will stop on a sixpence!
