Neither my 1977 MGB GT nor my 1975 petrol Land Rover are shown as being exempt. Both are taxed as Historic and are MOT exempt.It's just one giant mess and typical of Khan.

I've noticed that some of the head studs on the right hand side of the block have rust on the threads. This may have given cause to false torque readings. I'll oil the threads on them all and run a nut down to clean them up.

Machine Mart portable garages are remarkably cheap but I can't speak for their quality or durability.

Surely no reputable engine rebuilder would use 2 gaskets. It sounds like a Mickey Mouse business to me.
If the head was warped it should have been checked and rectified if necessary.

I successfully cleaned the H shaped contact in my switch this way. Electrical switch cleaner is best used.

Good news. The modified cylinder head is perfectly ok, just needing the valves lapping in which the garage will do. I'll give the block a good clean with brake cleaning fluid and buy a torque adapter as I think the problem was probably my ancient torque wrench because some head nuts were easier to r...
