Re: Panel voltage stabiliser?

Donie, The original voltage stabilisers rarely breakdown. The location of mine (original) is adjacent to the wiper motor near the access grommet to the rear of the pedal box. (see attached photo). 20180517_115028 (Medium).jpg Both the temp gauge & the fuel gauge (but not the oil pressure gauge) ...

Re: Running rough

Tom, I have just be clearing out some old Safety Fast magazines. I found a Tech Tip referring to the condition of the Distributor Vacuum Advance Pipe. Following noticing that the spark plug in number 4 cylinder was almost white compared to pale grey of the others it mentioned that the pipe had peris...

Re: Diff Talk

Donie, I understand it is possible that once you detach the fixed rod from each brake drum & remove the brake cable clip from the bottom of the battery box frame;then you can slide the diff strap over the near side end of the rod , over the connecting frame & then over the cable & longer...

Re: Diff Talk

Hi Donie,
Following on from my post in 8 July , i believe your car is a 1978 GT so should have the same handbrake set up as mine.
See attached photo which shows my solution for holding the handbrake cable.
Cheers,
Charles

Re: Diff Talk

If your car is a late RB that has / would have had a straight rod the rod across the car attached to each of the hand brake lever arms on the rear of the drum brakes, then it is the remains of the strap that holds the handbrake cable that passes by the diff on it's way to the rectangular frame that t...

Re: Starting problems

My 1980 car has the earth strap bolted to the top of the back plate of the engine block with the other end under the mounting of the oil pressure feed pipe junction on the flat part of the bulkhead beside the pedal box.(This is how it came from the factory),

Re: What are these?

Hi Mike, Are the triangular pieces where the vinyl has been cut to put in the "side windows" of the hood ? No idea what the rectangular piece is , unless the intention was to supply you with the offcuts when the hood was created to provide you with some spare material for patches if requir...

Re: What is this thing attached to the lid with 2 screws and do I need it? '77 MGB

I have found reference to this thing in the ROM. It is part of the emission control & appears to be something to do with the exhaust gas recirculation valve (E.G.R).
Cheers,
Charles

Re: What is this thing attached to the lid with 2 screws and do I need it? '77 MGB

Mike is correct - the American market cars had the dual circuit brake set up some time before the UK cars. The lid is the top of the pedal box. The thing attached with two screws to the lid appears to be an original fitting as i can just see it in a picture of a 1980 American car in Clausager's book...
