Re: Castor correction kit
The reason for reducing the castor is modern radial tyres have a much smaller slip angle than the crossplys and early radials the B was orginally designed and set up for, and consequently the steering becomes very heavy with modern radials and more so when wider tyres (185/70 x 14) are fitted. Many ...

Re: Castor correction kit
I've fitted the B&G kit which uses spacers, and it has reduced the steering effort by about 50%. It is still not light compared to a modern car, but is better. I use 185/70 x 14 tyres on 5.5" wheels. The key to getting the lightness is to take your time realigning the mast from the rack pin...

Re: Tyres
Are they genuine Minilites or Minator's? I have 5.5 x 14 in Minator's on my roadster with 185/70 x 14 Toyo TEO tyres. These are great, but the rear tyres rub on the wheel arches on both sides when cornering! Genuine Minilites use an offset that keeps the track narrower (required for racing to meet t...

Re: MGB Gearbox
BMC/BL were very good at using the same casing for all sorts of applications, but they were also very good at putting different ratios inside, usually by fitting different input shafts and lay gear clusters. The Sherpa and preceding J series will probably have a low first gear ratio. Also you need a...

Re: 'New' MGB roadster
Hi Paul, I've sent you an email with information about the group. Yes the George and Dragon is about where you think it is, but just before it just before the roundabout where the A51 to Nantwich splits from the A34 northbound. The pub doesn't have access from the A34 directly, but from a short para...

Re: 'New' MGB roadster
Hi Paul, Are you free this evening? If so why not come along to the MG CC Stone natter? We meet on the every first Monday of the month at the George and Dragon on the A34 just to the north of Stone. The PostCode is ST15 0PX. There you will meet many fellow MGB owners more than ready to give advice a...

Re: replacement front anti roll bar
Quite a thorny problem is anti roll bars! The standard one is 9/16" diameter and basically provides reasonable roll resistance and a small amount of understeer. A 3/4" bar which is recommended for racing is around 350% stiffer than standard and will increase roll resistance, but also incre...

Re: Welcome to the MGB Register Forum
Great to see an MGB Forum back!
It might be useful as the forum develops to have a section where MGB friendly events organised through the natters network can be publicised - Tours and regular meeting for example.
