Thanks George,
I hadn't thought of removing the door seals, so I'll try that to see if it improves access.
I'll report progress!

Removing the windscreen on a roadster
I'm hoping for some advice! I am replacing one of the front wings on my 1969 roadster, and of course the windscreen has to be removed as the pillars go through a hole in the wing. I have got as far as removing the glove box liner and the fuel gauge. I can now easily remove the forward bolts, and I c...

Re: Rubber bumper MGB GT wanted, preferably in white.
Hi Graham Pity you didn't make your post early December, as 9 MGBs (8 GTs and 1 Roadster) were sold at an auction in Lichfield. I'm told none of them went for much money as it wasn't a specialised classic car auction. A bit far from East Sussex, but you would probably have to travel anyway to see a ...

Re: Flooding carbs - HELP!
If you a standard SU fuel pump then you shouldn't need a fuel pressure regulator. Have you done any work to the fuel system recently (other than the work at Summit MG) - like new pipes or replaced the tank, or more likely in the contex of your problem had the tank repaired? All these could have allo...

Re: hard top
Hi Anthony Having had two different hardtops for my roadster - a Clubmans type and a Works type - both had different front catches. The Clubmans type used a hook that was tensioned using a long bolt which went into threaded holes in the front rail of the hardtop and the Works type which uses an over...

Re: Ethanol in petrol
Roger Some interesting points you raise here! As I understand it, every retailer does indeed start with the the same petrol (that is the minimum standard it can be), but the big brand retailers (Shell, BP Esso, Texaco, etc) then put into the mix additional additives which help the engine run smoothe...

Re: Looking for inspiration!
Hi Hadi, I run a Classic Car Meeting just to the north of Stone. Although it is a general meeting for classic car enthusiasts it is a recognised regular meeting by the MG Car Club Midland Centre. We have several members who have restored cars including Minis, MGAs and Bs from scratch, including one ...

Re: Revs slow to drop
I've just had another thought!
Check the breather pipe from the front tappet cover to the inlet manifold, in particular the plastic Y piece which is infront of the front carb. The Y piece can crack with age.
Hope you find your problem,
