Re: Stage 2 Cylinder Head.

Hi Vic, i remember you raising the problem of your overheating some 2(?) years ago. I can't recall whether a discussion was had over whether or not the thermostat was still in (& working) or whether it had simply been removed. If removed , i believe MOSS recommend a blanking sleeve ( which they ...

Re: electronic ignition

Hi Alun, I fitted a 123 ignition distributor some 12 years ago & it has been totally reliable. (I am aware that there are one or two other members on the forum whose experience may be different). Yes it is expensive compared with the alternative systems - however if "originality" of lo...

Re: Tyre Size

I agree with Mike re 185 / 70 X 14 - my speedo is virtually spot on at 70 MPH - much , much closer than my current daily driver.

Re: Gearbox oil leak - possible vent blockage?

You should able to reach the breather ( if this is causing the issue) which is forward from the overdrive switch (22) on the top of the gear box. When i changed the gear box harness i could only reach this switch by dropping the gear box using a hydraulic jack under the gear box . With the car on ax...

Re: New clutch master cylinder leaking from cap - does it need rubber seal?

Ian, On my caps the flat top of the cap can be pulled off & there is a small breather hole through the centre of the base. On the edge of the rim there is a tiny u shaped hole which , when the flat top is replaced enables venting. (My hand book refers to checking that these don't become blocked)...

Re: Coolant leak

Hi Remy, I agree with several others that your engine cutting out was most likely to be water/coolant/ dampness within the distributor cap probably caused by leaks from the heater valve directly above, whether it be the old one's perished diaphragm or poor sealing via the gasket to the engine block....

Re: Coolant leak

Hi Renny, Before fitting the new valve, with the valve in the open position ,blow through it & then close the valve until it stops your breath going through. Mark that point on the body slot where the lever rests. Then ,when fitted to the block ,the cable should be fixed to match that point with...

Re: Gear lever knob

I believe that throughout the production of the factory V8s ( both Chrome & RB ) the overdrive switch was a stalk (combing overdrive, wipers & wash) part number BHA5251 which was also used for short period (1975 -76) for 4 cylinder cars other than NA (per Clausager).

As Steven says ,last MOT in 2014. Looking through MOT history to that point at DVLA ,i think the speedo was changed 2009 /10 as MOT in 2009 showed 99682 mileage, 2010 MOT showed 3975,2011 4005, 2012 No MOT, 2013 4500 & 2014 5410 suggesting fun(?) use only . The car may have since been re-registe...
