2 Instrument Panel Rheostats?
I am confused !!! I have a 1975 manufactured rubber bumper roadster that I have owned for a few months but only just getting started on a major refurb. I have to replace the windscreen and surround and during prep for this have been examining the instrument panel. Between the Rev counter and the Spe...

Re: 25D4 Distributor with Magnetronic MTK003 Electronic Igni
Thanks for the advice, Vic. What a shame, as I’m not sure my refurb budget will stretch to new items. Probably stick with standard points and condenser set up. Cheers, David.

Re: 25D4 Distributor with Magnetronic MTK003 Electronic Igni
I would like to put electronic ignition on my 1976 roadster but that has the later distributor. Any views on whether Adrian’s kit would work on my car? Thanks, David.

Re: DfT Guidance on Substantial Change of Historic Vehicles
Thanks George, if I were to convert from rubber to chrome bumper it would not be for a while as I have plenty other tasks to complete first, so hopefully things will be more clear before I get to the decision point. David

Re: DfT Guidance on Substantial Change of Historic Vehicles
I read the links and everything I could find on DVLA and to me it says as long as reputable experts , such as car clubs, are happy with what’s been done should be OK. Also if modification is of the sort that was being carried out in period ( defined as 30 years ago), should also be OK. Not exactly u...

Re: DfT Guidance on Substantial Change of Historic Vehicles
If I change my rubber bumper car to a chrome bumper will this invalidate a VHI or is it OK because it was being done over 30 years ago? Appreciate your views please. Thanks, David.

Re: MGB failing to start
Hi James, If the car starts on Easy start, it sounds like a fuelling issue to me. When you try to start normally and it doesn’t start then check the plugs, are they dry or wet? If dry then fuel is not getting from carbs to cylinders, that is to say your engine is not pulling in the fuel or your carb...

Re: Convertible Hood replacement
I am very tempted by the modern fabric examples as I would think there is less likelihood of material splitting when folded, which is obviously what has happened in the past on my car! The only slight issue is how this will be perceived within MG circles given that it does not remotely reflect the o...

Convertible Hood replacement
Having leads on overdrive servicing, and windscreen replacement, my thoughts now turn to hood replacement. The hood on my 1976 car is black vinyl with some dark green piping and a zip out rear window but also has a 6 inch split behind the driver’s door ( presumably from careless folding)! So the que...
