I have a friend who has recently fitted Maxda MX5 seats to the GT he is rebuilding.
I'll ask for details
Did you know the Midget and Mazda MX5 have a connection?

Re: What did you do with your MG over the weekend.

Fed up with passengers complaining they were cold - I had the hard top on too - so I have taken the heater out to refurbish. I can tell it's been out before - the cheesehead posidrive drive screw under the heater motor was missing. Surpisingly the matrix is dated 03 65 (it's an April 65 car) so stil...

Re: Bonnet-sited number plate

Bob Number plates stuck on bonnets were never ever strickly legal, however it was common practice in the 50s and 60s especially with "works" cars. The actual legisaltion http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2001/561/part/II/made states;- " This paragraph requires the plate to be fixed— ...

Re: 1965 MGB GT PRESS CAR

Steve I do hope you canbring the car to some MGB GT 50th celebrations such as at MG Live in June at Silverstone. The first port of call must be BHIHT at the Gaydon Museum. If any papers from the press department are preserved this where they will be found. I guess the BMC Press Department was based ...

1973-4 Honeycomb grill Part BHH824

Does anyone have a nice condition grill they are willing to sell for a 73 car about to be put back on the road after a long rebuild?

Good price for a good grill.

Re: Body tags/decals

Pete No known definative list of body numbers. My 65 roadster has a difference of 304 between the recorded body number (spot welded tag on off side inner wing often covered by the wiring harness) and the MGB pre fix number. According to Clausager the body numbers started at 1(welded on tag) and the ...

Re: Body tags/decals

Jim Page 124 of "The Original MGB" by Anders Clausager - the definitive book on MGB. My major source of facts and figures. maybe available from your local library or buy on Amazon Most small local engineering shops will be able to make the plate, drill and stamp the number for you George h...

Re: Body tags/decals

Peter and Jim Peter's reply is absolutely correct for a post 69 roadster - bodies built in Swindon and Cowley - according to Clausager again. On page 124 there is a picture of this tag on a Mk11 car on page 124. Would suggest easy enough to make drill and stamp Mk1 cars had a diferent body number re...

Re: Pre Production Prototype MGB GT

Jim See my previous post - Anders left BMIHT about 10 years ago to work for Jaguar and has now retired. The information he used for your car all belongs to BMIHT not him personally. So BMIHT at Gaydon is the place for Ian to contact/visit becuase that is where the information, if there is any, will ...

Re: Pre Production Prototype MGB GT

Ian In asking Peter (ex Abingdon Apprentice who was there until 1980) I was hoping to find a source of further information on yours and any other pre-production MGB GTs. Unfortunately Peter, who was there throughout MGB build, has no possible sources other than Gaydon. Anders Clausager left BMIHT Ga...
