Re: Respray costs
Is it just the paint that lets it down or are there body panels that need replacing? If the panels are sound you might be able to get it cut and polished? but if there are issues with the panels and they need work this could be costly. I would keep the price as it is and amend the advert stating it ...

Re: Respray costs
From a buyers perspective I would be wary of a vehicle that has just been resprayed as you never know what it may be hiding? a repaint that has been done say three or so years ago would be a better bet as any nasties underneath the new paint would have manifested itself by then, offering it for sale...

Re: King pin shims.
Ok so just done this and found that both the thrust washer and shims are subject to wear, new thrust washer significantly thicker than the old one.
So new washer and two new shims (57 thou) gave correct clearance of 0.02 thou.

Re: Rebuilt Engine Burning Oil
You should have a rubber pipe coming off the tappet chest cover nearest the front of the engine which connects to the carbs. check this for sludge and any blockages, also remove the tappet chest cover which has a gauze filter in it clean this out with petrol and blow it dry with compressed air if yo...

Re: Rebuilt Engine Burning Oil
Do a wet and dry compression test that would confirm rings or something else, if it was a reputable engine rebuilder member of FER then it should have a decent warranty I would not dismantle anything as that could invalidate any warranty that may be valid. take it back to them and insist they sort it.

Re: Squealing brakes
Very common MGB problem. I had a set of Mintex pads which were terrible. I now have GreenStuff pads and all is quiet. I tried the 3M brake anti-squeal shims - they worked at first but the noise came back after a short while. I'm afraid your drilled and grooved discs won't be helping. They really ar...

Squealing brakes
Front brakes are squealing when hot, new discs grooved and drilled new pads, been on long enough to bed in, copper grease on pad backs and on the retaining pins, pads move freely in the caliper, piston cut out towards the hub. am I missing something??? Brakes quiet when cold after driving a 10 mins ...
