Yes, should be room. I just grabbed the tape as it was to hand, but it seems to be lasting OK.

Not sure how to post images, but here is a picture of the under bonnet of an Automatic MGB showing the kickdown cable position - you can see it passes over the area of the bend in the heater pipe. When I bought my current MGB last September the brakes squealed really badly. On removing the road wheels, I found "new" ( probably refurbished ) callipers had been recently fitted. I tried all the usual fixes ( shims, Copaslip on the rear of the pads, new pads etc ) and nothing made any d...

I believe the kink in the pipe is to provide clearance for the kickdown cable when automatic transmission is fitted
