SU Fuel Pump 72 GT

Hi, the pump stopped working the other day and no amount of tapping would generate more than a couple of clicks. Having now taken the pump off and inspected it there appeared to be no blockages, connections are clean and have not chaffed anywhere and the points seemed in order. Having reinstalled it...

Re: Smiths Dual temp/Oil pressure gauge replacement

Just to end the thread. Sent the gauge back for testing. It worked for them. Re-fitted it in my car, worked for me...............Go figure! :D

Re: Smiths Dual temp/Oil pressure gauge replacement

Thanks for your replies. Oil is getting to the gauge, however I am now thinking faulty new gauge. Taking a piece of strimmer nylon and gently putting into the back of the new gauge where the oil would go it only goes about 2/3 millimetres however on the old gauge it goes in a good 12 mil. Is there a...

Smiths Dual temp/Oil pressure gauge replacement

Hi, I have just replaced the Smiths dual temp/oil gauge after many years of only the oil pressure gauge working, The previous owner had fitted a separate, unreliable temp gauge which generally showed close to hot all the time. The new gauge plus copper piping and new pipe from engine all fitted. It ...

Re: Leaking cap on the clutch reservoir

Many thanks for the replies. Have attempted to to resolve the problem with a new cap and and old one from previous style reservoir, all to no avail. Still leaks so I think it's going to be a further new reservoir as it seems I have managed to obtain a duff one.

Leaking cap on the clutch reservoir

Hi, I have fitted some months ago a new brake and clutch reservoir. However the clutch reservoir is constantly leaking through the cap. Is the solution simply a new screw cap or something different? I have tried a thin washer inside and PTFE tape to no avail. A simple journey of 80 to 100 miles redu...

Re: What is this thing attached to the lid with 2 screws and do I need it? '77 MGB

Are you certain the fluid is escaping through the thread on the cap and not the grommet where the reservoir fits to the cylinder ? Yes quite sure it's coming from the cap. I wrap a cloth around the reservoir to limit the paint damage and after a journey the cloth is damp and just wiping your finger...

Re: Anyone have an email addy for the person that maintains the MGB database ?

Hi Andy, yes that's the body number. I believe that the GBD prefix and P suffix is unique to the MGB GT. Thanks Andrew for confirming what I thought. I'm now on to the museum at Gaydon trying to find out the chassis number as I can't find this in all the usual places. They have already let me know t...
