Re: anti freeze

Vic
Thanks. I will go for 50/50. I was not aware that it is the corrosion protection that deteriorates-I shall be diligent about regular changing in future!

Re: Coolant

Perhaps I should have added my question to this thread: Just getting around to flushing out the cooling system and refilling. I am using Bluecol 2 year-which seems to be right. The can says 25% or 33% or 50% depending on protection required. Does a higher concentration of antifreeze=better corrosion...

Re: satnav

Thanks Ian and Michael Holden seem to be out of stock of the brackets but Moss are listing it as a vailable AHH7010bkt. I found an interesting socket on Amazon that is waterproof and has a flip down lid : Cigarette Lighter Socket, Enisina Waterproof Marine Grade 12V/24V DC lighter socket plug Outlet...

satnav

I would like to install a cigarette lighter in my mk1 MGB to use a Garmin satnav in the car. I am thinking of disconnecting the radio (which no longer works but has a line fused supply). Does any body have any thoughts on this? Does anybody know where I can buy a suitable cigarette lighter with a mo...

Re: Forum Maintenance

Dear Paul posting an avatar I would really like to have a picture of my car alongside my name but I do not seem to be able to upload it. I have a photo with a very small file size -just 46kb, but the instructions in profile say "Maximum dimensions; width: 120 pixels, height: 120 pixels, file si...

Re: Winter of our discontent

Thanks for your responses. Took the car for a run yesterday to get it up to temperature and feel the hoses etc as suggested. But... suddenly the heater has started to work. Not super hot, but definitely warm where before there was nothing. We will not be using the car much during the winter so I thi...

Re: E10 petrol and our MGs

I know this is an old thread, but I have been researching ethanol- I can find only BP optimax and Esso synergy saying they have no ethanol. Shell (whatever the more expensive higher octane one is called) has 5% ethanol. I sent an email query " Does BP Ultimate petrol contain ethanol?" to B...

Winter of our discontent

Took the car (Mk1 1967) for its first winter run a couple of weeks ago-London to Winchester and back- since buying it in the summer. No heat-not even luke warm. Ambient temp about +5c . Temp guage showing 75-80c. Fresh air flap closed. Heater flaps open. Fan working. Diverter knob changes from demis...
