First Drive
Firstly I need to say a big thank you to all who have responded to my calls for help and advice over the course of this last year, greatly appreciated. I have had my early rubber bumper car, in Tundra, for almost a year now and practically all that time has been spent on refurbishing the car ( the b...

Re: LH Overdrive
Think I ‘ve just answered my own question! Black goes with 1280 tpm speedo whereas blue goes with 1000 tpm speedo as drive gears in overdrive units are different.
Anything else? David

LH Overdrive
Hello All, can anyone tell me the differences between a “black” and a “blue” cover plate overdrive unit and if they are interchangeable?
Many thanks, David.

Re: Short Circuit
Sorry Richard don’t want to hijack your post but Charles, I have heard a lot of issues can be caused by poor earthing especially block to chassis strap. My 1975 car doesn’t appear to have such a strap — should it have?
Thanks David.
Thanks David.

Re: Fuel Flow Variation
The best flow measured was achieved using all the existing pipe work right through to the carbs so I believe the blockage is in the tank pick up. I didn’t try to start the car using the external tank. Although this would have tested the low fuel flow theory, the installation was a bit Mickey Mouse t...

Re: Engine Running Issue
Sure understand Vic but could be issues of incorrect seating of manifold to head or leaking from other plugged holes.
At present concentrating on fuel flow issue as highlighted in my other topic.
Thanks David.

Re: Fuel Flow Variation
Hi Paul,
Thanks for thought but tried cap both on and off with no difference in flow so at least the fuel cap works properly!
Cheers David.

Fuel Flow Variation
As part of my ongoing issue to get my early rubber bumper car running properly I have been examining fuel flow. My concern is that the poor flow reaching the carbs is insuffient to allow the HIFs to operate correctly. Today I have done a number of tests. 1/ fuel flow at carbs. Best 0.85 litres a min...

Re: Engine Running Issue
Wasn’t being very clear Charles. I should have said I checked both before and after filter with no difference in result. Yes, arrow pointing in right direction. Will check flow again at pump exit. Can’t find any info about pick ups in tank but considering blowing compressed air into tank via fuel ou...

Re: Engine Running Issue
Hi Charles,
Flow checked before filter so afraid that one is crossed off the list.
Mostly new fuel.
Will check points again tomorrow.
Thanks, David.
