Re: Steaming

I'm hoping it's not head gasket failure, when it was last used 3 years ago it had a new unleaded had fitted as they original leaded head had a crack in it. I did drain the rad with top and bottom hoses off, I think the heater was on. What's is the process for filling the cooling system to clear airl...

Re: Steaming

What part is not making sense? I've flushed the cooling system checking for blockages, all clear.
Removed the stat to aid with overheating.
Yet still when the engine is idling at normal on that temp gauge the radiator is blowing Steam and water out.

Steaming

Week is been 3 years since I got the B out the garage. 3 hours to get it running the pooof, steam venting from the radiator cap. I've tested the thermostat which is fine, flushed the rad and engine to ensure no blockage. Removed the stat and fitted the Moss adapter for stat removal also. When idling...

Re: Newbie

Thanks Peter, very helpfull and some interesting reading/points in there.

Recon I'll leave the valuation at 10k until I've got to some meetings to see how it compares, my sentimental feelings to the car may cloud what it's realistic value is. I'd like to think 12k ish but time will tell

Re: Newbie

Well it's taken time but she's back on the road after having a new unleaded head conversion, service and mot. Renewed ins and taxed. Just need to get a agreed valuation sorted. ''Tis is where I'm unsure, it's always been £10k but is that about right in current market? Fully documented car since 1969...

Re: Leaded head

Wow Pete, that's o proper reply to my situation. The last work I had done on the car was by brown and Gammons, who did a great job on getting the car to the standard I wanted. There listing exchange heads for £495 inc vat plus fitting If repairing the existing head is such a pain I'll probably go wi...

Leaded head

My 67 roadster has its original cylinder head still on it, although rebuilt about 20years ago. The head has got a hairline crack which has been liquid metal sealed. Due to my lack of use the car hadn't been run for 12 -18 months and when I finally got it started and warmed up a valve stuck and bent ...

Newbie

Just found this forum and thought I'd say hi.
I have a 67 roadster In red, it's been in the family since 69 so quite well known
We had it fully restored in 2000 and is as clean now as it was when restored
