Wiper Problems

A couple of wiper issues, which are increasingly annoying, and relevant, in winter.

- My N/S wiper judders across the screen when it gets past the 12 o'clock position. It's noisy except in reasonably heavy rain.

- By contrast, the O/S one doesn't make a good contact with the screen at the end nearest the A pillar where the glass is most curved.

- The O/S arm also has a habit of falling off.

Both the rubbers are new. I believe the blades are OEM (13" type). The arms may be aftermarket, but I'm not sure.

Any tips please?

Just some general observations - I hardly use my wipers as they are so inefficient (but don't let that make you dismiss the advice below!!).

The quality of the rubber is paramount if you want to avoid judder. I've always found Bosch to be good, or the best! Poor quality judders.

For the contact with the screen you may need new springs on the arms. I think they are integral with the arms unless you can bodge something together in true MG fashion! Get the best arms you can find if you decide to replace them.

Happy Christmas 😃😃

Many thanks Ian.

This page also highlights the difference between OE and reproduction arms. http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/faulty/ft085.htm

Best wishes

The "rubber" blades are also of questionable quality on many replacements. I reckon the rubbers on Tex blades is far too hard, don't flip over when they reverse direction, and wipe poorly. I buy replacement rubber refills from Halfords and cut them to size. They seem to be made from a better material.
