Drive it day

Post by John Watson »

Today was meant to be the national day to drive our classic cars.
I put mine on the drive took a picture and then back in the garage.
Keep safe and well everyone

Hi John
I got mine out and drove to the supermarket. Ran out of petrol on the way home. Used the emergency can I carry in the boot to get the home. Gauge showed a quarter full and had been trying to avoid filling the tank as I’m not sure when we will be free to drive again and don’t want a tank full of stale petrol. Spent the rest of the day calibrating the gauge. I removed the gauge and disconnected the green /black wire from the sender unit then used some spare resistors to simulate the sender unit at the full position (20 ohms.) half full (65ohms) and empty (222 ohms) Have calibrate the gauge to show empty with the gallon of fuel I added to get home so have a safety margin! The joys of old cars!
Best regards
Mike Barclay

We should have been visiting Concorde at Manchester Airport for a guided tour - perhaps next year!
Instead I got the MGB out of the garage and drove it around the block to clean up the discs and check all was ok when warmed up. Then took some pictures I had been promising myself I would take for some time, as I didn't have many up to date pictures of the car.
Here are a selection.

Hi everyone, I hope and trust you are all well?

I took mine out to collect some food yesterday, I think I might have taken a few wrong turns, so ended up taking a little bit longer than intended. Also, took a few driveway pictures, showing my latest purchase, a new set of headrests and seat belt guides (they really do work!)

Good Afternoon,

I have created a "Display on your Drive album" for 2020 in the online Photo Album and grabbed the 25 pics of Facebook that appeared yesterday.

Would you like me to add yours to this album and collage is getting popped into the May eNewsletter going out later this week..

STAY SAFE

The Midland Centre has a theme running on its Facebook group called 'On the drive it day'. Please feel free to add piccies of your car if you are in our region. Search for MG Car Club Midland Centre group and you should find it. May be of interest to all MG enthusiasts.

Well, I've been using mine regularly since February for shopping and esentials, so there!

She's the only running car I have at the moment.

Tried to put some juice in yesterday at my nearest garage 9 miles away. Automatic/debit card petrol, nobody on duty. Did the card thing at the terminal, went back to the car, measured out and applied the additive, went to the pump stuck the nozzle in the orifice, and NO petrol. Nobody about to check with, eventually got home and checked the bank online, £20 taken. Phoned the garage thIs morning and told em what had happened. Told I had 3 minutes from aceptance of card to operate the pump! Anyway, all is well, refund on its way.
