Gaz dampers.

Hello has anyone had a problem with these items on a 'parabolic' set up. They were already fitted to my GT, from purchase, and I was told that the rattling from the rear was the worn Gaz dampers, not a knock, a squeak/rattler like chattering. Had new set fitted six months ago, all quiet to begin with but now come back. Front's are older but don't appear to make any noise ??
Any ideas please.

Thanks for the reply Vic. Possibly but it's more of a chatter than a squeak, the same noise as the old ones, and that was worn internals. Given that these are less than a year old I hope you're right.

Andrew I've had another thought about this. Parabolic springs have more movement than standard ones so it's a possibility that the the shocks are being overextended. When I had parabolic springs fitted to my Series 3 Land Rover I had to fit much longer shock absorbers. I just wondered if your rear shocks are correct for parabolic springs.
Just a thought

Hello Vic apologies for the tardy reply, I must admit I didn't see it straight away. I think the gaz set up should be ok for parabolics as they are often sold as a set, though of course, that doesn't mean it's right !.
I have since spoken to an MG specialist, who suggested I try them at the next hardest setting, which I did and the noise has gone away, for now, so I shall get on with all the other jobs. Thanks once again for your help. All the best
Andrew.

I bought GAZ for B front & rear plus parabolics.

front rubbed on inner tyre at full lock. had to install spacers for MOT.

rears went at 2 years. GAZ rebuilt. That was 6 month ago and they have gone again. But it's a knocking.

The guy at GAZ said that they were incorrectly angled due to the (GAZ?) upper bracket design and it promoted wear.

when working, they seem to do a good job. but I would not buy them again.
