What a great afternoon in the company of the 'Marathon Greats'! Paddy, Rosemary and Alec can always tell a good story about their adventures behind the wheel, but some of the tales today revealed some incredible camaraderie between teams if not always within cars! Not only that the possibilities of family ties! Bill Price, perhaps the quiet 'glue' that made it all work, and although not in a BMC/BL car, David Harrison's account of the British Army Motoring entry aided by Ford - 'yes you can have a car, but it's the wrong spec! Here's the parts you need to make it right! Oh and there are no spares to go with it!' Incredible stuff. Finally Hugh Chambers, son of Marcus the first BMC Comps Manager. Who wouldn't give their eye teeth for a CV like that!
Sorry if you weren't there, but you missed a real treat.
Thanks to everyone who helped the Register put on this exceptional afternoon treat!
