Exhaust manifold refurbishment

Post by Mrbenn »

How much should I roughly be looking at to have an exhaust manifold restudded? I can paint it myself but the studs are knackered.

Hello Ben
You can buy the studs separately from Moss Europe, Rimmer or Motaclan . Part No CHS2513 price around GBP 1.27 each.

The same studs and nuts also fit Series 3 Land Rovers exhaust manifolds . You should buy brass barrel nuts to go on the studs as they cover the stud completely and air can't get in therefore no rust and easy to remove. BL Special Tuning fitted such nuts to the manifold to head studs and I fitted them to my MGB and the manifold is much easier to remove and replace.

If the studs are broken off then grind them flush with the flange and drill them out and replace them or if you do not have the tools to DIY most local garages will do it for you.
