SU Fuel Pump 72 GT

Hi, the pump stopped working the other day and no amount of tapping would generate more than a couple of clicks. Having now taken the pump off and inspected it there appeared to be no blockages, connections are clean and have not chaffed anywhere and the points seemed in order. Having reinstalled it, the pump now constantly clicks but delivers only a trickle of fuel. The fuel filter is a fifth full at best. Do I come to the conclusion that a new pump is the best and easiest remedy?

Many thanks

Sounds like a valve issue - fuel just going back and forth! I would certainly just get a new one - best quality OEM I could find.

Why not get an electronic pump and do away with the points.!BFS in Salisbury sell them and they do tick and I can vouch for BFS as they rebuilt my HS6's and 4 Zenith Land Rover carburetors. The first one they did about 12 years ago is still going strong and has needed no adjustments after the initial set up.
