Currently getting the B GT V8 ready for Castle Combe. My garage are fitting 4 point Sparco drivers seat belt. Have used existing mounting points for lap belts.

They are asking where to mount the two over-shoulder belts. Can any GT owner help please? Ideally with pictures please.

I think something will have to be fabricated. The critical thing is that the angle of the shoulder straps must not be too steeply downwards. Ideally horizontally back or close to that. The reason being that a downward angled belt can cause spinal compression in an accident - to be avoided!!

1340fxd - if you don't have the courtesy to reply to any of the advice you receive on this forum, you will find that very soon the folk here will just ignore you.

Wouldn't this topic be better directed to the V8 forum?

I have had the same problem on my '73 BGT – same mounting points even with my 1800 engine!

I currently have my 3 point ones mounted at the base of the rear seat back rest with reinforcement plates in the spare wheel well, but as noted above they do go down a bit. I was looking at getting a removable harness bar made up to bolt onto the top of the wheel arches – I have seen a couple and they look good. This will allow the rear seat to be folded, or not, as required.

If you are required to have a harness what to the regs say? The standard Safety Devices roll over rear cage now comes with a harness bar.

For track days I guess there are no specific requirements, but for Motorsport the attached MSA guidance is recommended.
