Can anyone confirm to me the correct colour of the MGB LE's front badge?

I don't know the answer here, and I'm also not sure if there was just a single colour? It may depend on the exact age and spec. of your car.
I suggest you check Clausager - Original MGB. It's a useful guide to all this kind of stuff, around £20 new.

I agree with Paul. The period advertising for the home market LE's clearly shows the red badge at the front. The specification simple states "Special Limited Edition badges". Using the Gaydon BGT LE as a guide to an original unrestored example, that appears to mean the red badge on the tailgate, red badges on the Alloy Wheels and the same (alloy wheel) badge in the centre of the steering wheel.

If these badges have been subject to sustained sunlight, they seem fade to an orange colour which might add to the confusion as to the original colour.
It should also be noted that the US Limited Edition MGB roadster, introduced in March 1979, shared some of the features with the later home market LEs such as the Alloy Wheels, front air dam and silver livery stripes but had the black and silver MG badges of that rubber bumper period.
