Seat covers

Post by Steven collins »

Does anyone know where to source a pair of leather seat covers (or the material) to fit a 1972 MGB in dark blue with a lighter blue centre? As per original build.
Many thanks.

According to Clausager's "Original MGB" seats like you describe were made for the 1972 year only and were fitted to the GT only, not the roadster. The main fabric of the seat was vinyl (Ambla) and the centre panels were brushed nylon. A 1972 car would not have left the factory with leather seats.

However, I expect a company like Prestige Auto Trim would happily make you up a set in whatever fabric and style you want. At a cost of course. https://prestigeautotrim.com/uk/

Thanks for the info, it is not my car and as you say it’s for a ‘72 GT. I’m enquiring on behalf of someone I know so you are probably right in that they are not leather but vinyl.
I will pass on the information to him and let you know how he gets on.
