Hello there,
So I’m another new MGB owner whose been lurking on these boards the last few months. Following Malcolm and Paul’s lead, I thought I’d take the opportunity to introduce myself.
I’ve had my eye on owning an MGB tourer / roadster ever since a friend at University bought one for some fun and games. Earlier this year I needed to acquire a car for occasional travel (about once a month) and thought this was about the time to buy in. I’ve ended up acquiring an (early) 1974 Mk.III from a reputable dealer and have been slowly learning the ins and outs of the car ever since.
The MGB needs a little bit of attention. The engine seems to be running a tad rich, and the paintwork needs touching up in a few places. One previous owner (I know which one from the history) back in the late 80’s installed rear speakers in the panel between the boot and the cabin / cockpit which I’m not overly enamoured with. Otherwise though the car is in good condition; and as one of the reasons for buying an MGB was to learn how to maintain a car and its engine - I see the niggles as learning opportunities!
Hopefully I’ll own this car for a long time to come. The aim is to slowly improve the condition of the car, but I’m not looking to ‘restore’ it to an authentic early 1974 configuration. I suspect, in due course, I’ll swap the dashboard from rocker to toggle switches and slowly make other tweaks that give the car a more 60’s look. The key priority for now though is to enjoy... and learn.
David

Hi David,
Welcome from a fellow newbie! I've yet to pick my car up, fingers crossed it should be all sorted this Thursday (2nd Jan)
If you've been lurking, you'll have noticed the help and advice I've received already. So don't tell them I said, but they seem like a decent bunch on here.
Best of luck with your project and please, post lots of photo's!
Regards
Paul

Hi David, ref the pictures - I took some of those on my DSLR, so they are quite large files. That site auto sizes them, this site refuses files of that size. I'll figure out how to resize them (not done it for a while) and post some up.
Ref the dash, agreed. Seems our friend is a little confused.

Hi Paul
That is a CLEAN engine bay - I'm jealous 😂😂
I know you said it came from someone who was meticulous but that looks brand new 👍
FYI, if you still haven't found the emojis ... I just right click and they come up .. Windows 10 OS.
Cheers

Pretty sure all buttons are there and working.
Profile pic can be a bit tricky, but if you send me the image I can add it if you run into issues.
