Hi Mario
If you have not yet got around to taking the heater valve off of the block, it is worth trying to clear any crud from the block itself.
You can rake some out with a stiff metal rod (bicycle spoke or a bit of a metal coathanger). It will also stop the valve clogging up again so quickly.
This is particulaly important if the engine has boiled recently as boiling tends to loosen the rust and muck which then accumulates at the back of the engine.
If you want to go the whole hog and clear all of the muck that accumulates at the back of the block, get a length of thin plastic hose (the larger diameter the better) and attach to a vacuum cleaner then push it into the block and wriggle it around. Larger bits of rust may block the hose so be prepared to remove frequently.
It is advisable to make an interceptor from an old plastic soft drink bottle to stop any liquid reching the vacuum cleaner (reduce the suction to stop the bottle collapsing). I have used this trick several times and got a lot of muck out.
