Wing Fit

Post by Aerosteve »

I have bought a 74 roadster part restored. The fit of both wings is poor with a 10mm gap between them and the bonnet at the front. I can see from the gap between the wings and the grill that both wings are not far enough 'inboard' at the top, but as the horizontal flange on the wing with the bolt holes buts up tight to the upstand of the inner wing, I cant see how I can adjust them.

Any advice?

Hi Steve,
See this thread which might help you:

The link to Middlebank is very useful.
If the screen has been fitted, then you might need to remove to get a good fit, (or at least loosen it on its mounting bolts) in order to get sufficient movement in the wing itself.
Do you know the manufacturer of the wing! Some are a really poor fit and you will never get 'Factory Fit' gaps. You should be able to improve on 10mm though, but it is a fiddly job.
Hope this helps - eventually!
