Rubber bumper MGB GT wanted, preferably in white.

Post by Graham Wilkins »

Having just completed a two year rebuild to my 1966 MGB GT, I find myself hankering for an every day GT. The '66 car is now far too nice to be used every day and will be used for touring, club runs etc. So if anyone out there knows of a nice condition rubber bumper GT in white, please let me know. Preferably I would like a post 1977 model, but condition more important than the year. I am located in East Sussex and will be away over the Christmas holidays, but would be happy to view in the New Year. Any help greatly appreciated. Merry Christmas to one and all.

Hi Graham
Pity you didn't make your post early December, as 9 MGBs (8 GTs and 1 Roadster) were sold at an auction in Lichfield. I'm told none of them went for much money as it wasn't a specialised classic car auction.

A bit far from East Sussex, but you would probably have to travel anyway to see a car, is Brightwells Auction at Leominster, Herefordshire. I have used them to sell a car, and nearly bought another (a 2004 TF). They sold this GT in November:

for £2300 plus buyers premium which I think is 10% (this is subject to VAT but the hammer price isn't). Their next classic car auction is on 4th March, so it might be worth checking their website to see if there more like this one. See http://www.Brightwells.com and click on Classic Vehicles from their home page for more details.

Hi Peter, Thanks for the information-never bought at auction, but worth a look-keeping my eyes peeled as there seems to be a lot of interest in good BGT's at present, even rubber bumper versions!
Regards,
Graham

Thank you to everyone who viewed my post. I have purchased a 1979 GT in Snapdragon Yellow in lovely condition and with only 48,000 certified miles from new. Being yellow it looks a bit like a "Rubber Duck", well I always give my cars names! Sad isn't it?!

Hi John, Thank you. Hopefully will be on the Spring Run, but probably in my 1966 Mineral Blue GT as I need to get some miles under its wheels since its restoration.
