Timing

Post by David Ramsbotham »

Morning All,

I would like to check the dynamic timing on my early rubber bumper roadster GHN5-395102G. I don't have a timing light, so the purpose of this post is to ask for recommendations please before I buy.

Additionally, as the battery is not under the bonnet on a B, does anyone have a recommendation as to where I should pick up the live feed for a timing light?

Many thanks in advance, David.

Many years ago i bought a Gunson's tachostrobe timing light . This is mains powered & you simpky place the universal HT connector between the spark plug & the suppressor cap & then shine the light at the timing marks. (A tab of white paint on the timing marks where you want to set it makes it easier).
Dkn't know if these are still made but if i recall, not that expensive.
Cheers, Charles

David , I have a Gunsons Tachostrobe as described by Charles which is surplus to requirements as I can't use standard timing data on my engine. It's free to collect but I haven't used it for ages.

Vic,
What a brilliant offer! I’d love to accept.

Is it possible to send private messages on this forum with details of your whereabouts so I can assess distance from Taunton.

Many thanks again for offer, David.
