ignition light lens

Post by Francois Schnyder »

I am a new member to the forum and living in Switzerland. Does somebody already noticed the lens of the red ignition warning lamp becoming dark and no longer allowing the light of the bulb located behind the dial to be seen. I also made a test with a small led flashlight with the same result. My car is a BGT chrome bumper 74 with a Smiths Tachometer 2415/00AF

Hi Francios
You could try replacing the bulb with an LED one which considerably brighter than the original tungsten type. See here for what's available:

You can go back to the home page to see the whole range of LED bulbs.

Hello Pete, many thanks for giving the address of Better Car Lighting. I have just placed an order with them. I will also upgrade the original 2.2 watt (987) bulb with Led for the instrument lighting on my MGA Twin Cam Coupe 59 and also on my A-H 100 BN2 56, it's not the same problem with the ignition warning light but fuel gauges on both cars have a very poor lighting!
best regards
Francois
