Post by John Murphy »

Hi all, got this site recommended off facebook. I'm trying to track down my Grandad's old GT. I used to go in it in the 70's and apparently it may be still around.

Anyone know of a '72 (was blue) reg no. PTJ920L ?

It changed hands in 2013 so hopefully getting restored for me to own. :-)

Thanks,

John.

Welcome John
Drop an email to Andrew the MGB Registrar on registrar@mgb-register.org with the car details, just in case he does not pick it up from here
Good luck

Vic
The car could not have been taxed since September 2010 - it needed an MOT to get tax

Must be an error on the DVLA site - the MOT history enquiry site also says it ran out in September 2010.

It was living in the Harlow Essex area back in 2010 according to the MOT history

Agreed George. This site has many anomalies as I have found as I use it regularly mainly out of curiosity when watching period dramas where vehicles are involved.

Vic
And often for these dramas the cars have false plates
I followed up the MGb in Inspector gently - no such car for instance

George, I'm intrigued how you know this car was tested in Harlow. I would like to learn how one can discover the location of an MOT test centre from the DVLA website. This would be most useful in my researches.
Thank you, Keith

George.
Had a thought. If a registration number is on retention then it wouldn't show as belonging to a vehicle on the DVLA website.
